What you will do

• Supervise the structures portion of transportation projects to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Verify construction conformance to Caltrans Standards, Specifications, and Construction Manuals.
• Interpret project plans, shop drawings, and contract documents including Falsework and shoring systems.
• Review and generate contract change orders and requests for information (RFIs).
• Coordinate and perform quality testing of structural work.
• Report directly to the Resident Engineer or Structure Representative to provide technical expertise.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• EIT certification required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in roadway or highway inspection, including bridge structures and temporary support systems.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a lead worker in structure construction and inspection.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Caltrans roadway/bridge construction projects.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Caltrans practices, procedures, and Construction Manuals.

Nice to have

• PE Registration in the State of California.
• CMIT, ACI, NICET, or APWA certifications.
• Experience with analysis of Falsework and Shoring Systems.
• Ability to direct field construction activities and act as a liaison with regulatory agencies.
