Automation Engineer (Siemens/Rockwell)

Location: Based in the United Kingdom or Ireland; travel up to 40% to customer sites in the UK, Ireland, and Northern Europe.

What you will do

• Implement automation projects and upgrades for customer processing systems.
• Write PLC code, configure HMI systems, run simulations, commission and service control systems, and debug issues.
• Manage industrial networks, PI systems, recipe systems, databases, and production support activities.
• Agree project specifications, budgets, and timelines with customers and colleagues.
• Prepare project documentation, internal test materials, and customer FAT documentation.
• Participate in design reviews, safety risk assessments, project planning, and milestone delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and experience in automation, electrical or electronic engineering, and process control.
• At least 4 years of experience with processing-area automation systems.
• Experience with industrial switches, servers, Visual Basic, SQL databases, virtual machines, VMware, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, planning, delegation, multitasking, communication, and quality-focused skills.
• Fluent English, written and spoken, is required.
• Full driving licence required.

Nice to have

• Siemens or Rockwell PLC experience.
• AVEVA or Ignition SCADA experience.
• Previous experience in the food or dairy industry.
• Commercial awareness.
