Safety Field Investigations - Data Analyst (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid attendance required at least 3 times a week

What you will do

• Lead VIN population analysis to determine vehicle eligibility, support customer contact strategies, and complete field action documentation.
• Design, maintain, and improve data pipelines and workflows for field action analytics, reporting, and operational decisions.
• Perform data preprocessing, cleansing, validation, and feature engineering to improve data quality.
• Develop cost estimates and analytical models for financial accruals and business planning.
• Create internal communications, dashboards, scorecards, and self-service reporting with Tableau and Power BI.
• Partner with engineering, operations, and global teams to interpret automotive data, align definitions, and reach decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 5+ years of related experience or demonstrated proficiency in analytical and technical roles.
• Strong SQL and data analysis experience with large, complex datasets.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, Hadoop, data pipelines, preprocessing, and feature engineering.
• Experience creating dashboards and visual analytics with Tableau and Power BI.
• Proficiency with Python analytics tools including Pandas and NumPy, plus strong communication, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with automotive components and systems.
• Experience with GM systems such as QDAP, GM data structures, and performance integration applications.
• Advanced Excel, Access, or other analytical tool proficiency.
• Project management experience and experience developing enterprise data models, automated reporting, or scalable operational analytics.
