Senior Information Systems Engineer

TL;DR

Senior Information Systems Engineer: Designing and implementing secure, next-generation enterprise information systems with an accent on requirements elicitation, system architecture, and integration. Focus on applying systems engineering principles across the full lifecycle, including documentation of functional specifications and interface standards within a mission-driven environment.

Location: Hybrid-Remote. Must be able to be onsite in Suitland, MD, at least once per week. United States Citizenship is required to obtain the necessary Public Trust security clearance.

Salary: $100,000 - $150,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead requirements elicitation sessions with business and technical stakeholders.
• Analyze business processes and operational workflows to identify system requirements.
• Document functional, non-functional, interface, and business requirements.
• Support the development of user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
• Document system interfaces, data exchanges, and integration requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, and cybersecurity to ensure system readiness.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of professional experience in systems analysis or systems engineering.
• Experience with requirements management tools like Jira, IBM DOORS, or Jama.
• Experience with modeling tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, interface standards (REST, SOAP, JSON), and systems engineering principles.

Nice to have

• Prior U.S. Census Bureau or Federal systems engineering experience.
• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML.
