Senior System Engineer (VB.NET)

Location: Onsite in Bridgend, South Wales, United Kingdom. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

Salary: £45,000–£65,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

What you will do

• Review software requirements from product specifications, engineering requirements, and customer projects.
• Design, develop, maintain, and improve software applications and control solutions, with emphasis on VB.NET-based systems.
• Produce system specifications, software designs, interface documentation, test plans, and test procedures.
• Verify and validate software, participate in architecture reviews, and diagnose faults through development, testing, deployment, and product support.
• Support software installation, commissioning, integration, upgrades, and modifications, including occasional international customer-site visits.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, customers, contractors, and subcontractors, and provide technical assistance and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

• At least five years of professional experience in a commercial software development environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with VB.NET, preferably in engineering, manufacturing, automation, or a related technical setting.
• Experience developing applications that communicate with or control hardware and engineering equipment.
• Understanding of industrial automation, machine control, motion control, software testing, debugging, validation, and software-hardware relationships.
• Higher-level qualification in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Legal right to work in the UK and availability for onsite work in Bridgend are required.

Nice to have

• Previous exposure to PLC-based control systems.
• Experience with laser control technology.
