TL;DR

Supplier Quality Engineer (Automotive): Supporting supplier capacity readiness, run-at-rate execution, and manufacturing problem solving with an accent on capacity planning and launch validation. Focus on identifying root causes of capacity gaps, coaching SQE teams, and driving executable recovery plans for suppliers.

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan (at least 3 days per week). No immigration sponsorship provided.

What you will do

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on supplier capacity planning, line installation, and launch execution.
  • Visit suppliers to identify manufacturing gaps, build corrective actions, and drive resolution plans.
  • Analyze line rates, station performance, and equipment readiness against awarded volumes.
  • Support suppliers through run-at-rate preparation, issue identification, and recovery planning.
  • Educate and coach the SQE organization on capacity calculation and validation fundamentals.
  • Use sound project management to organize work and drive closure across multiple supplier issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing, industrial engineering, or quality.
  • Strong knowledge of calculating, installing, and validating production capacity.
  • Experience troubleshooting line performance, bottlenecks, and throughput constraints.
  • Demonstrated project management and technical communication skills.
  • Must have valid US work authorization; no immigration sponsorship is available for this role.

Nice to have

  • Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Significant experience with automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier launches.
  • Direct experience preparing manufacturing operations for run-at-rates.
  • Expertise in line balancing, cycle time analysis, and labor modeling.
