Resident Capital Project Engineer

Location: Onsite - Irvine, California, United States. Travel may include up to 10% domestic/international. Relocation assistance may be authorized. Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without employment visa sponsorship.

Expected compensation: $85,200–$117,150 per year, including base pay and variable incentive pay if eligible.

What you will do

• Manage capital projects from concept development, design, procurement, and construction through commissioning and turnover.
• Prepare project justifications, scopes, cost estimates, schedules, bid packages, and capital expenditure requests.
• Provide technical leadership for mechanical, electrical, utilities, facility systems, and infrastructure designs.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, EH&S, quality teams, contractors, consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and external partners.
• Serve as the contractor’s designated representative and oversee construction safety, quality control, schedule adherence, and communication.
• Conduct engineering reviews, risk assessments, constructability evaluations, documentation, commissioning protocols, Management of Change processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline, completed and verified before starting, plus at least two years of experience in capital project management, process engineering, product engineering, and/or manufacturing engineering in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Alternatively, a high school diploma or GED completed before starting, plus at least six years of experience in capital project management, process engineering, product engineering, and/or manufacturing engineering in a private, public, government, or military environment.
• Legal authorization to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status.

Nice to have

• Experience serving as a designated contractor representative on capital or infrastructure projects.
• Experience applying construction management practices, safety programs, and contractor coordination processes.
• Experience with project scheduling and cost control tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar applications.
• Experience with facility systems, including HVAC, utilities, and electrical distribution systems.
• Experience negotiating, resolving conflicts, and coordinating activities across multiple stakeholders.
• Professional Engineer license or Engineer-in-Training certification.
• Project Management Professional certification or equivalent project management certification.
• Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional certification or equivalent.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
