Location: San Francisco, CA

Salary: $163,000–$204,000 (Denver & most remote locations); $197,000–$247,000 (San Francisco & New York). Stock equity is additional.

What you will do

• Execute technical strategy for the team’s tax domain aligned with OKRs and contribute to the Tax Engineering roadmap.
• Design, build, and test production-grade experiences for customers to add and update tax information.
• Support and evolve the software platform powering multiple first- and third-party products at large scale.
• Collaborate across Engineering, Product Management, Design, Data Science, Compliance, and Operations to solve complex, ambiguous problems.
• Drive product development from concept to launch and improve foundational systems and architecture.
• Apply AI tools in the engineering workflow to reduce customer effort, simplify tax workflows, and surface proactive guidance.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with expertise in React and TypeScript, plus experience with Ruby on Rails, SQL, or other backend languages.
• Experience improving large, complex codebases without breaking production; ability to design, build, and test code that functions at scale.
• Experience applying AI tools to accelerate development, improve code quality, and build testing; familiar with AI-assisted development workflows.
• Strong systems thinking and ability to build mental models of unfamiliar systems and produce clear analysis others can act on.
• Ability to communicate technical complexity clearly to product and design partners and navigate tradeoffs with full context.
• Travel requirement: 2 days of travel to a hirify.global office for onboarding is required.
