Tax Business Analyst (Fintech)

TL;DR

Tax Business Analyst (Fintech): Support analysis, implementation, and enhancement of Tax reporting, cost basis processes, and regulatory controls with an accent on IRS regulations and securities processing. Focus on translating complex tax guidance into functional specifications, designing system enhancements for wash sales and corporate actions, and leading UAT efforts.

What you will do

• Analyze and document business requirements for cost basis processing and tax reporting.
• Translate IRS regulations and tax guidance into functional specifications and process improvements.
• Partner with compliance, tax, and technology teams to implement regulatory changes.
• Evaluate current processes to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for automation and efficiency.
• Design and test system enhancements for wash sales, corporate actions, and tax lot accounting.
• Lead UAT, regression testing, and resolve production reporting discrepancies involving tax forms.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States
• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in financial services, brokerage, or tax operations.
• Deep knowledge of cost basis accounting, IRS regulations, and Form 1099-B reporting.
• Experience with UAT, defect management, and validation of financial reporting systems.
• Proficiency with SQL, Excel, JIRA, and Confluence.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with cost basis platforms or brokerage back-office systems.
• Knowledge of ACATS, DTCC processing, and securities reference data.
• Professional certifications such as CBAP, PMP, CPA, or CFA.
• Experience in large-scale enterprise transformation programs.
