TL;DR

Staff/Thermal Lead Design Release Engineer (Automotive): Leading the development and integration of thermal system components and subsystems for vehicle programs with an accent on underhood and in-cabin thermal performance. Location: Must be based in Warren, Michigan (Hybrid)

What you will do

  • Lead the product development team for assigned thermal architectures and programs to ensure on-time, high-quality deliverables.
  • Facilitate cross-functional work groups to resolve complex, high-risk system-level thermal issues.
  • Serve as the primary interface for thermal content, managing studio criteria and resolving integration conflicts.
  • Coach and mentor DREs and suppliers to execute program milestones with excellence.
  • Perform design studies and alternative analyses to balance performance, cost, mass, and energy efficiency.
  • Manage subsystem-level thermal performance and issue tracking using JIRA and other engineering tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of automotive experience depending on the specific level (Staff vs Lead).
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated competence in GM engineering tools including UGNX, Teamcenter, and JIRA.
  • Proven project management and leadership experience within the vehicle development process.
  • Ability to work on-site in Warren, Michigan at least 3 times per week.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in engineering or business.
  • Experience with HVAC, cooling systems, heat exchangers, or refrigerant systems.
  • Deep understanding of component and subsystem validation test methods.
  • Experience spanning multiple full vehicle development cycles.
