What you will do

• Research US HR, payroll, and payment compliance from primary statutes and official guidance to define automation rules.
• Build AI workflows and agent systems that apply compliance rules to platform and document data.
• Own model governance, including prompt and model versioning, eval suites, and decision logging for auditability.
• Develop internal applications allowing legal and operations teams to manage compliance directly.
• Integrate AI systems with payroll engines, HR systems, and databases to eliminate manual data movement.
• Deploy and monitor production systems, ensuring high reliability, access control, and secure data handling.

Requirements

• 2+ years of software engineering experience, strong in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI), prompt engineering, and structured outputs.
• Proven ability to implement RAG architectures, vector databases, and document processing pipelines.
• Proficiency in SQL/PostgreSQL, REST APIs, and production deployment (Docker, AWS/GCP/Vercel).
• Strong research instinct to analyze dense primary legal materials and translate them into technical specifications.
• Ability to work with US-based legal and compliance requirements.

Nice to have

• Background in law, paralegal work, legaltech, regtech, or compliance tooling.
• Familiarity with US wage/hour rules, worker classification, or payroll tax filings.
• Working knowledge of security and privacy frameworks such as SOC 2 or HIPAA.
• Experience with rules engines, policy-as-code, or versioned decision systems.
• Background in Payroll, EOR/AOR, HR tech, or fintech.
