What you will do

• Enhance, maintain, and refactor the C++ payroll system and contribute across the full product lifecycle.
• Work with Btrieve databases and MFC interfaces for high-volume payroll processing.
• Modernize the backend while preserving dependable behavior; support GUI virtualization and ongoing refactoring.
• Translate complex Belgian payroll requirements into elegant technical solutions with business experts.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues across a long-lived legacy codebase.
• Collaborate internationally with the product owner and stakeholders; report progress and technical decisions.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of C++ development in complex software environments.
• Knowledge of STL, Boost, and MFC.
• Experience with document and relational databases such as Btrieve and MS SQL.
• Degree in IT or equivalent experience.
• Ability to collaborate with an international team; English is the lingua franca.

Nice to have

• Experience surviving legacy modernization projects.
• Familiarity with TDD and CI/CD (Azure DevOps, Jenkins) and Windows profiling tools like VTune.
• Visual Studio mastery.
• Python scripting for automation.
• Payroll domain knowledge (Belgian tax calculations).
