Software Engineer, Cloudflare Network Interconnect (Networking)

What you will do

• Develop and scale systems for provisioning, monitoring, and orchestrating private network interconnects.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Network Engineering, and Infrastructure teams on global connectivity initiatives.
• Own the full software development lifecycle, from design and documentation to coding and automated testing.
• Manage and monitor production software deployments following a "Run What You Build" model.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure the health and reliability of critical customer-facing systems.

Requirements

• Systems-level programming experience in Rust, Go, C, or C++.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking fundamentals (BGP, Layer 3 routing, VLANs, overlay tunnels).
• Experience building and debugging distributed systems.
• Proven track record of participating in on-call rotations for high-impact services.
• Must be authorized to receive software or technology controlled under U.S. export control laws.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with BGP configuration, route policy, or peering operations.
• Familiarity with network inventory and IPAM systems like NetBox.
• Experience with cloud provider networking (AWS Direct Connect, GCP Partner Interconnect, Azure ExpressRoute).
• Knowledge of GRE, VXLAN, or other overlay/tunnel technologies.
• Experience with Kubernetes-based service deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency with telemetry platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ClickHouse, or Elasticsearch.
