Senior Backend Engineer (TypeScript/Python/Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable backend services and REST/event-driven APIs using TypeScript and Python.
• Build reliable distributed systems focusing on scalability, high availability, and fault tolerance.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms including OAuth2, OIDC, and JWT.
• Containerize applications with Docker and manage deployments on Kubernetes using Helm.
• Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to shape solutions from design to production.
• Debug production issues and improve system performance, reliability, and observability.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript (Node.js) and/or Python.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes, cloud-native architecture, and distributed systems.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and API design.
• Must hold a full-time work permit for Finland (no visa sponsorship provided).
• Ability to work in a hybrid model (at least 50% in-office).

Nice to have

• Domain experience in accounting, ERP, or payroll software.
• Experience with message brokers like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
• Experience with AI-enabled or agent-based backend systems.
