THE MISSION OF THE SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER (TELEMETRY)
Satellite telemetry does not forgive gaps. Build the systems that make sure there are none.

ICEYE's SAR constellation generates a continuous stream of data that fleet operations depend on to function. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Fleet Automation team, you will be a key contributor to the infrastructure that makes that data usable: the pipelines, parsers, and time-series stores that translate raw satellite signals into operational state in near real-time. The scope is expanding, the ownership is real, and the engineering problems are ones you will not find anywhere else.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES AND REQUIREMENTS
Outcomes:

* Telemetry pipelines ingest, transform, and store satellite data from across the fleet reliably and in near real-time, with minimal manual intervention


* Telemetry data stores are performant and well-maintained, including schema design, query optimisation, capacity planning, and zero-downtime production migrations


* Anomaly detection and automated recovery systems reduce operational load on the mission operations team


* TTC gateway telemetry integration is delivered as a production-grade component ready for customer deployment


* Engineering quality across the team is actively raised through code reviews, testing standards, and support of less experienced engineers



Role-specific Competences

* Strong Python proficiency in production backend systems; experience with Go or Rust is a plus


* Proven experience building and operating telemetry systems, data pipelines, and distributed systems in production


* Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL and at least one time-series database such as InfluxDB or Prometheus


* Hands-on experience with Kubernetes-native environments, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Helm


* Actively uses AI and LLM tooling as part of their engineering workflow


* AWS or equivalent cloud platform experience is a plus
