What you will do

• Act as the strategic finance partner to Engineering, Product, and Data/ML leadership.
• Own the R&D budget, forecast, and headcount planning across technical departments.
• Establish LLM economics as a financial discipline, monitoring inference and cloud compute costs daily.
• Build models to track unit costs and determine the margin impact of new products and pricing changes.
• Support foundation-model and cloud vendor negotiations using data-backed positions.
• Deliver financial reporting and variance commentary to the CFO and the board.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in FP&A or corporate finance, specifically supporting R&D or technical organizations.
• Deep expertise in SaaS and AI/usage-based economics (CoR, gross margin, unit economics).
• Strong SQL skills (BigQuery preferred) and expert-level Excel/Sheets modeling.
• Ability to translate complex technical work into financial views and partner with ML leads.
• Must be based in the US or Canada to align with company hubs and remote policies.

Nice to have

• Experience at a high-growth AI/ML company.
• Familiarity with modern data stacks (dbt, EPMs).
• Contract negotiation and people management experience.
• CPA, CA, or CFA certification.
