Back End Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: London, UK. Hybrid role requiring three days per week in the London office during the first six months, followed by at least two days per week in the office.

Salary: £60,000–£75,000 per year. The role description also specifies a base salary range of £60,000–£65,000 depending on experience and interview performance.

What you will do

• Build and evolve backend services for regulatory compliance and financial services products.
• Design and implement cloud-native, distributed, resource-efficient solutions.
• Work with large-scale data systems, including PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB, and S3.
• Deploy and operate software using AWS, Terraform, Fargate, Lambdas, Step Functions, and delivery pipelines.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and wider company stakeholders to solve business problems through technology.
• Improve code, engineering practices, automation, and team processes through incremental changes.

Requirements

• Mid-level software engineering experience with generalist product development knowledge.
• Ability to write production code in C#, Java, or Python.
• Knowledge of software design, product requirements, work breakdown, TDD, CI/CD, architecture, and agile practices.
• Ability to work independently on well-defined problems, take ownership, communicate progress, and collaborate constructively.
• Permission to work in the UK without visa sponsorship is required.
• Ability to work from the London office at least two days per week is required.
