Software Development Engineer, SRE (US Federal)

Location: Reston, Virginia, United States; at least 50% of each quarter must be spent in the office or in the field. The role supports U.S. Federal Government contracts and requires U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI with CI POLY security clearance.

Salary: $137,000–$205,400 USD annual base pay for Reston; additional U.S. locations have a $123,900–$222,000 USD annual base pay range.

What you will do

• Define, design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain automation infrastructure for configuration management and service deployment.
• Automate operational work and build self-service platforms that let application developers interact with production systems.
• Support private and public cloud environments with a focus on security, scalability, and reliability.
• Monitor production systems, triage incidents, implement fixes, and conduct retrospectives to improve services.
• Collaborate with peers and partner teams, mentor engineers, and influence technical improvements.
• Participate in an infrequent on-call rotation.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• An active TS/SCI with CI POLY security clearance is required before applying.
• 3+ years of SRE or DevOps experience automating deployments, scaling, and managing containerized applications in Kubernetes.
• Enterprise experience with public cloud platforms, ideally AWS or GCP, and 3+ years working with CI/CD technologies.
• Proficiency with deployment automation or configuration management tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, or ArgoCD.
• Experience with observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, or Prometheus; complex distributed systems; and scripting in Bash, Python, Go, Ruby, or a similar language.
