TL;DR
Electronics Technician Security Systems (Road Warrior): Install, upgrade, and maintain physical security infrastructure (IDS, PACS, and IP video surveillance) for federal customers at electrical substations with an accent on reading electrical/electronic schematics, wiring to strict guidelines, and troubleshooting security wiring & power circuits. Focus on working independently or with a small team while traveling 75–90% to support sites across the Western region.
Location: Based out of Colorado, Arizona, or Nevada; travel to electrical substation facilities across multiple states (including Arizona, California, Nevada, Colorado, Nebraska, and Wyoming). Expected travel: exceed 75%.
Salary: $33.09 per hour; Health & Welfare: $4.93 per hour; OT and per-diem if required and approved.

What you will do
- Serve as an Electronics Technician on assigned projects, working independently or with a small team.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain physical security systems at electrical substation facilities.
- Install electronic and technical security systems according to DoD/DoS guidelines and requirements.
- Read, interpret, and draw electrical/electronic/electro-mechanical schematics and building plans (blueprints).
- Use test equipment (e.g., multimeters and cable testers) to troubleshoot and test security wiring & power circuits.
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of intrusion detection, access control, and IP video surveillance systems.
Requirements
- US Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a customer clearance (local and national background check).
- Current valid Driver’s License; role may require driving company vehicles.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and servicing IDS and PACS, plus IP video surveillance and other security systems.
- Experience installing electronics/electrical systems including intrusion detection, access control, CCTV/security cameras, intercoms, mass notification, conduit installation, and low-voltage electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) practices (grounding and electrical safety) and ability to install/test/troubleshoot security system equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat.
