Senior Data Engineer (Databricks/Spark): Leading the design and delivery of enterprise-scale data platforms for Fortune 500 clients with an accent on Lakehouse architecture and scalable ETL/ELT frameworks. Focus on architecting cloud-native solutions, optimizing distributed data processing, and establishing engineering best practices.

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario (3 days per week in office)

Salary: $140,000 – $180,000 (CAD)

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and implementation of enterprise-scale data platforms from inception through production deployment.
• Partner with Fortune 500 stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical strategies.
• Design and optimize high-performance Spark applications and Lakehouse architectures using Delta Lake.
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Establish data governance frameworks, including Unity Catalog, metadata management, and role-based access controls.
• Mentor data engineers and lead technical delivery across multiple client engagements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing and building enterprise-scale data platforms.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Databricks and Apache Spark.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and distributed computing.
• Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and IaC tools like Terraform.
• Proven track record of leading technical initiatives and managing enterprise client stakeholders.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Toronto, Ontario

Nice to have

• Databricks Certified Professional Data Engineer certification.
• Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Event Hubs) or tools like Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow.
• Knowledge of AI/ML platforms, Feature Stores, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• Previous experience in professional services or consulting for enterprise clients.
