Backend Software Engineer (Cloud API & Microservices Development)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; hybrid working environment with in-office and/or in-person expectations

Salary: $180,000–$210,000 OTE per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and own production-quality REST APIs and backend service components for Azure hirify.global Files cloud services.
• Build service functionality across the full lifecycle, including implementation, automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Develop and modify cloud-native microservices using Docker, Kubernetes, databases, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement APIs for creating, managing, updating, and deleting service resources.
• Collaborate with architects, product managers, partner teams, and engineers through architecture, design, code, and operational readiness reviews.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and improve reliability, scalability, performance, security, and service quality.

Requirements

• 4–8 years of experience building production software, backend services, distributed systems, or cloud-native platforms.
• Hands-on development experience with at least one of Go, C++, or C#.
• Experience developing REST APIs or service-to-service integrations and delivering microservices end to end.
• Experience with Docker images, containerized services, and Kubernetes-based service development; administration-only Kubernetes experience is insufficient.
• Experience using databases in application or API development, preferably PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
• Strong practices in automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, observability, secure development, and technical communication. A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience is required.

Nice to have

• Experience operating cloud-native distributed systems in Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with cloud storage, infrastructure services, distributed systems, data protection, or data management platforms.
• Python experience for automation, tooling, validation, CI/CD integration, or operations.
• Familiarity with React, TypeScript, event-driven architecture, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
• Experience applying AI tools responsibly in software development workflows; a Master’s degree is preferred.
