About the Role

You will review and refine Marvel Comics reading paths and issue sequences for canon, narrative quality, and reader experience. You will define entry points, assess audience complexity, map continuity connections, document key continuity anchors, and provide rationale, citations, and confidence levels for decisions. You will work with product and business stakeholders to translate comics expertise into structured systems and resolve editorial edge cases.

Requirements

• Demonstrated deep expertise in Marvel Comics.
• Working knowledge of Marvel continuity, including key Avengers, Spider-Man, X-Men, and modern-era event arcs.
• Ability to work with structured tools such as spreadsheets and shared documents.
• Ability to provide feedback suitable for engineering and data teams.
• Authorization to work in the United States as an independent contractor.
• Experience in editorial or creative writing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and refine reading orders across characters, story arcs, writer runs, events, crossovers, eras, and imprints.
• Validate issue-level sequencing and flag orders that may confuse, spoil, or under-serve readers.
• Define and curate canonical entry points for new readers.
• Provide editorial rationale describing the intended reading experience and considerations for readers.
• Assess audience level and reading complexity for each reading path.
• Map prerequisites, parallel storylines, optional side reading, and post-event continuity.
• Identify and document key continuity nodes and anchors.
• Partner with product and business teams to translate domain expertise into structured systems.
• Provide written rationale, source citations, and confidence levels for review decisions.
• Participate in working sessions to align on scope, prioritize titles, and resolve edge cases.
