Backend Engineer (AI/TypeScript)

TL;DR

What you will do

• Build versioned REST/OpenAPI contracts and a modular TypeScript BFF with stable success/error envelopes.
• Integrate Cognito identity with application sessions and implement complex account membership and capability flows.
• Design PostgreSQL domain models with forced Row-Level Security (RLS) and immutable account constraints.
• Deliver a durable asynchronous operation path using transactional outboxes, SQS dispatch, and worker fencing.
• Implement progress delivery systems using append-only events, resumable SSE, and cursor polling.
• Develop private Python worker workflows and typed pydantic-ai agent boundaries.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States.
• Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript building modular production APIs (Fastify, JSON Schema preferred).
• Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL schema design, migrations, and row-level security.
• Experience with distributed work execution (SQS, idempotency, DLQ recovery, and heartbeats).
• Proficiency in modern typed Python using uv, Pydantic, and pydantic-ai.
• Strong testing and operability skills including TDD, contract tests, and OpenTelemetry.

Nice to have

• Experience in patent, legal-tech, or document-workflow domains.
• Knowledge of pgvector retrieval and embedding pipelines.
• Experience with Neo4j or graph-query languages.
• Experience with Stripe webhooks and entitlement projection.
