Renewable Studies Engineer (62840)

Location: Fully remote or local/in-office in Lakewood, Colorado; applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States. Some field work may be required, with typical travel of 5–15%.

Salary: $100,000–$135,000 per year.

What you will do

• Model and analyze electrical power systems for solar, wind, battery storage, and substation projects.
• Develop studies and reports covering short circuit, reactive power/load flow, arc flash, dynamic, transient, harmonic, interconnection compliance, ampacity, and grounding topics.
• Communicate with clients and participate in assignment-related meetings.
• Apply relevant electrical codes and standards while maintaining professional and ethical work quality.
• Support equipment, controls, communications, and relay field testing, troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning when needed.
• Assist with power-system design, including one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, SCADA, cable routing, grounding, specifications, estimates, and scheduling.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution; an electric power focus is preferred.
• 1–4 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
• Current authorization to work full-time in the United States is required.
• Required proficiency with PowerFactory or ETAP for steady-state studies.
• Required proficiency with ETAP or EasyPower for system protection and arc-flash studies.
• Experience with PSSe or PSLF for interconnection and dynamic modeling and PSCAD for transient studies.

Nice to have

• FE or PE licensure.
• Experience with EasyPower, SKM Power Tools, Aspen, WindMil, CAPE, or grounding and ampacity software such as CDEGS, WinIGS, or Cymcap.
• Effective written and oral communication and strong interpersonal skills.
