Staff Data Engineer (BigQuery/Databricks)

What you will do

• Serve as DRI for high-complexity platform initiatives including Databricks Lakehouse migration and event streaming infrastructure.
• Architect and maintain production-grade ingestion pipelines from source through Bronze/Silver layers.
• Design and operate event-driven pipelines using Kafka, PySpark, and Databricks Structured Streaming.
• Own data quality, schema governance, and SLAs for raw-to-cleansed data layers.
• Establish reliability KPIs and SLOs, implementing monitoring-as-code via Datadog.
• Mentor Senior Data Engineers and drive adoption of engineering standards for CI/CD and observability.

Requirements

• Must be based in the US
• 8+ years of experience designing and operating data pipelines and platform infrastructure.
• Proficiency with dbt, Airflow, Kafka, BigQuery, and Databricks.
• Multi-cloud fluency in both GCP and AWS.
• Experience with Terraform (IaC) and production-grade Python and SQL.
• Knowledge of data compliance in regulated environments (HIPAA/PHI).

Nice to have

• Experience with PySpark, SparkSQL, or Go.
• Familiarity with MLOps, feature stores, or Hightouch reverse ETL.
• Background in direct-to-consumer healthcare or telehealth.
• Knowledge of UK/GDPR data compliance requirements.
