What you will do

• Research and write original content for magazines, newsletters, user manuals, and technical reports.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to translate complex technical data into clear narratives.
• Perform substantive editing for grammar, spelling, format, and overall clarity.
• Verify technical accuracy through source material review and interviews.
• Ensure strict adherence to GPO Style Manual, Chicago Manual of Style, and Section 508 standards.
• Manage copyright clearances and the end-to-end document publication lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of professional experience in technical writing and publishing.
• Expertise in GPO Style Manual, Chicago Manual of Style, and Section 508 compliance.
• Ability to obtain a USDOT Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential.
• Experience in the transportation sector (especially highway and surface research) is preferred.
