Senior Software Engineer (Fintech)

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Java/Python): Technical leadership of the Clearisq real-time portfolio risk engine within Cboe Clear Europe with an accent on architecture, code quality, and system sustainability. Focus on embedding the risk system into the architecture, implementing liquidity stress tests, and integrating AI-assisted engineering practices.

Location: Must be based in Amsterdam, Netherlands or London, United Kingdom. The role follows a four-day in-office work model.

What you will do

• Act as the technical owner of the Clearisq codebase and define the target architecture, including data pipelines and platform services.
• Drive architectural decision records (ADRs) and align technical direction with CCEU architecture governance.
• Enforce engineering standards for correctness, performance, testing, and observability in a safety-critical CCP context.
• Implement and lead AI-assisted engineering practices for code comprehension, refactoring, and test generation.
• Collaborate with Quant engineers to translate complex risk methodology into robust software constructs.
• Serve as the primary technical interface between Software Engineering, Risk, Quant, and Operations stakeholders.

Requirements

• Strong experience designing and owning complex backend systems in Java.
• Proven track record with data-heavy and computation-intensive platforms.
• Demonstrated, hands-on experience using AI tools as part of the daily engineering workflow.
• Strong foundation in data structures, numerical computing, and analytical problem-solving.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and communicate complex trade-offs to non-engineers.
• Experience operating in regulated or high-risk environments is a strong advantage.
