Data Engineer (Snowflake)

Location: Lincoln, Nebraska; hybrid work for associates living within 30 miles of an office location, with in-office presence three days per week. Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Annual compensation: $100,000, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Build and maintain CDC and batch ingestion pipelines from relational, document, API, and file-based sources into Snowflake Bronze using Redpanda, Python, and Dagster.
• Design raw snapshot tables, preserve historical state, track hard deletes, document source schemas, and detect upstream schema drift.
• Build conformed Silver models with the Analytics Engineer and reconcile row counts, totals, and record completeness across transformations.
• Implement ingestion-boundary data-quality checks, classification tags, freshness and schema validation gates, and incremental performance tuning.
• Operate Dagster orchestration, including scheduling, retries, failure alerting, and incident response for data pipeline issues.
• Collaborate on Docker-based platform provisioning, Snowflake object tagging, CI/CD templates, and the HVR-to-Redpanda CDC migration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
• Experience building and operating production data pipelines with strong Python and SQL skills.
• Working knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience implementing ingestion-boundary data-quality checks, including schema-drift detection, row-count validation, freshness monitoring, and end-to-end reconciliation.
• General familiarity with data modeling concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to data quality and auditability, and the ability to manage competing priorities and participate calmly in incident response.
• Clear written and verbal communication, pipeline documentation skills, and collaborative work across engineering, platform, governance, and product roles.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Exposure to CDC or streaming platforms such as Redpanda or Kafka.
• Experience with MongoDB or another document/NoSQL platform.
• Experience with Snowflake, including multi-tenant patterns, Snowpipe, tasks, or streams.
• Containerization and provisioning experience with Docker.
• Experience consolidating single-tenant sources into a multi-tenant warehouse.
• Exposure to data-governance practices such as classification, masking, or retention in a regulated data environment.
• Experience with financial, payment, or transaction data, including reconciliation and settlement concepts.
