Senior Systems Administrator (Infrastructure & Automation)

Location: Montréal, Quebec, Canada; hybrid flexibility is available, with regular data center visits and infrastructure support for the Quebec City studio. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and currently reside in Quebec.

What you will do

• Administer and improve Linux production environments, primarily Rocky Linux 9, alongside Windows services such as Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
• Manage KVM/libvirt and VMware ESXi/vSphere virtualization, Linux workstations, GPU hosts, render services, remote workstations, and Docker Swarm services.
• Maintain enterprise networking, including Arista and Dell switches, FortiGate firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, routing, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Support storage, backup, restore, archiving, and disaster recovery processes using NFS, Qumulo, Isilon, and Veeam environments.
• Automate operational work with SaltStack, Bash, Python, and Git while creating runbooks, standards, and repeatable procedures.
• Act as the Quebec City infrastructure escalation point, mentor a junior team member, and advise the CTO on infrastructure priorities and operational risk.

Requirements

• Strong production Linux administration experience with Rocky Linux, RHEL, or CentOS.
• Experience with Windows infrastructure services, virtualization, configuration management, scripting, Git, Docker, enterprise networking, and firewalls.
• Practical knowledge of VLANs, routing, DNS, DHCP, switchports, VPNs, patch management, CVE remediation, system hardening, access control, and privilege management.
• Experience with enterprise NAS or storage platforms, backup and restore operations, archiving, and disaster recovery principles.
• Strong documentation, troubleshooting, communication, and technical leadership skills, including the ability to work in data center environments.
• French is required for internal collaboration; English is required for technical documentation, vendors, and external partners. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and reside in Quebec.

Nice to have

• Experience in animation, VFX, video games, GPU rendering, or other creative production environments.
• Experience with HP Anyware/PCoIP, Leostream, NVIDIA GPUs, production workstations, or render nodes.
• Advanced Arista, Dell, FortiGate, VLAN, VPN, routing, or network architecture experience.
• Experience with Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Google Workspace Business, or Mattermost.
• Familiarity with TPN, MPAA, ISO, security audits, or mentoring junior IT team members.
