What you will do

• Operate welding torches and hand tools to fuse metal parts using the gas metal arc process.
• Position and align steel structures according to blueprints and layout specifications.
• Produce complete joint penetration welds meeting visual and ultrasonic inspection criteria.
• Use hoists and cranes to safely manipulate heavy steel workpieces.
• Maintain welding equipment and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Inspect finished welds using standard gauges to ensure conformance with SOPs.

Requirements

• Must be able to work on-site in Pineville, LA.
• Successful passing of DIS-TRAN Steel’s Welder II test is required.
• Proven experience with GMAW welding processes.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and read a tape measure.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 structural steel welding code.
• Ability to read and understand welding symbols.

Nice to have

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience or certifications for operating moving machinery such as cranes.
