Data Science Manager (Sports Modeling)

Location: Jersey City, New Jersey, United States; hybrid work

Salary: $149,000–$186,000 USD per year, depending on experience, location, business needs, and market demand.

What you will do

• Develop, iterate, and deploy machine learning models that predict sports outcomes and support betting products.
• Improve pricing techniques and optimize predictive and derivative model pricing with risk and trading teams.
• Manage and develop a group of data scientists working on production-ready models and company-wide challenges.
• Lead data preparation from collection through cleaning and build robust predictive models using feature and model selection.
• Create dashboards, data visualizations, analyses, and solutions for stakeholders and senior leaders.
• Set project plans, lead cross-team forums, identify inefficiencies, and communicate key decisions across the organization.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of industry experience in data science, analytics, or engineering preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or another highly numerate field, or equivalent data science experience.
• Experience managing or mentoring data scientists or analysts.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high proficiency in Python or R and SQL.
• Strong understanding of Bayesian statistics, production modeling, object-oriented coding, command-line tools, and GitHub.
• Ability to work across teams, locations, and time zones, including nontraditional hours when needed.
