Project Associate – Building Science

TL;DR

Project Associate – Building Science: Assist with design and condition assessments of buildings across residential, commercial, institutional, federal, and healthcare projects with an accent on building envelope testing, technical reporting, and compliance with building codes and standards. Focus on delivering end-to-end projects, preparing working drawings/specifications, and resolving field and design challenges with Senior Engineers.

Salary: $65,000–75,000 CAD per year.

What you will do

• Conduct field investigations, monitor progress to specifications, ensure conformity to building codes/standards, and prepare reports.
• Perform building condition assessments, reserve fund studies, and performance audits for clients.
• Prepare reports, analysis, and design deliverables (plans, details, and specifications) for additions, modifications, and renovations.
• Carry out condition survey assessments through testing and evaluation of building envelope systems.
• Prepare construction working drawings, specifications, and terms of reference.
• Manage multiple projects from start to finish with supervision; coordinate with clients, consultants, and contractors to deliver on time and on budget.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in applied science, Architecture, or Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 2 years of prior experience in building science/building envelope restoration in a consulting environment.
• Experience with building condition assessment, reserve fund studies, and performance audits.
• Working knowledge of building codes and standards.
• Experience with concrete and masonry restoration, and cladding/glazing upgrades.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle for travel to client sites; willingness to work on site, including at heights or in confined spaces, and to work overtime when required.
