Engineering Designer (Accessories)

TL;DR

Engineering Designer (Accessories): Creating detailed interior, exterior, electrical, and chassis components for automotive systems with an accent on functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal. Focus on translating innovative concepts into robust, manufacturable solutions using advanced NX CAD modeling and engineering design principles.

Location: Must be based in or able to commute to Warren, Michigan (Hybrid: 3 days/week on-site). Not eligible for relocation assistance.

What you will do

• Develop integrated subsystems to resolve packaging challenges while maintaining design best practices.
• Collaborate with Vehicle Architecture, Studio Styling, and Release Engineering teams to integrate engineering criteria.
• Apply DFSS and design-thinking methodologies to manage trade-offs in cost, mass, and assembly.
• Create and maintain NX models for surface guidance and space claims.
• Incorporate Voice of the Customer insights to maximize space utilization and enhance user experience.
• Support virtual assessments and sync point reviews to validate design integrity.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship (no H-1B, OPT, etc.).
• 3-5+ years of experience in interior, electrical, exterior, or chassis component design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Advanced proficiency in NX CAD modeling, Teamcenter, and TcVis.
• Strong understanding of automotive design theory, manufacturing, and assembly principles.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Nice to have

• Graduate degree in Engineering.
• Experience with standard math models (SMM) or template development.
• Knowledge of CAE tools.
• Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) certification.
