TL;DR

Location: Hybrid (Warren, Michigan). Must be based in the US; no immigration sponsorship provided.

What you will do

  • Lead the design and layout of lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery cell components including cathodes, anodes, separators, and electrolytes.
  • Develop and optimize electrical, thermal, and mechanical performance requirements for cells.
  • Manage the development, testing, and validation of Pre-A and A samples.
  • Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA), machine learning, and statistics for design and performance assessments.
  • Collaborate with system engineering to ensure seamless cell-to-pack integration and compliance.
  • Coordinate across internal departments and external partners to meet project deliverables and cost innovation strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Electrochemical, or Materials Engineering.
  • 6+ years of relevant engineering experience in product development and supplier collaboration.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Lithium-ion and Sodium-ion battery technologies.
  • Experience with mechanical CAE tools and CAD manipulation.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • No immigration sponsorship provided (H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, etc. not eligible).

Nice to have

  • Masters or PhD in a related Engineering field.
  • Proficiency in Matlab, Simulink, and Python.
  • Experience with thermal analytical tools, CFD, and FEA.
  • Direct experience working with the battery supply base.
  • Knowledge of cell manufacturing processes and industrial chemical processing.
