Senior Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid, with a minimum of 2 days per week onsite at the Wallingford facility, United Kingdom

What you will do

• Build and own the company-wide data foundation, unifying operational, product, commercial, and contractual data in a queryable layer.
• Define the architecture and systems of record for core concepts including customers, sites, deployments, and contracts.
• Model customer and site performance against contracted SLAs and KPIs, including perception accuracy, scan performance, obstructions, coverage, and connectivity.
• Establish shared metrics and business definitions so reporting and AI systems use consistent, trustworthy data.
• Build connectors, pipelines, and natural-language query capabilities using AI automation, while monitoring data health and resolving source changes.
• Set engineering standards, make build-versus-buy decisions, and help recruit and mentor the future data team.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a senior data or analytics engineer, independently owning architecture and source-of-truth decisions.
• Strong SQL, data modelling, Python, and modern data stack experience, including Databricks or an equivalent lakehouse or warehouse and dbt or a similar transformation framework.
• Hands-on experience using LLMs and AI agents for system integration, delivery acceleration, and trustworthy natural-language data access.
• Proven experience integrating operational, commercial, or SaaS systems such as product analytics, telemetry, deployment, and contractual platforms.
• Experience with data quality and, ideally, deduplication or entity resolution.
• Availability to work onsite at the Wallingford facility at least 2 days per week, with the communication skills to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
