What you will do

• Design and build the company-wide data foundation, integrating operational, product, and contractual data.
• Define core business metrics and concepts to ensure consistency across the organization.
• Implement AI automation and LLM-based agents to enable self-serve data access and natural-language querying.
• Partner with engineering and platform teams to ensure clean data exposure and robust pipeline architecture.
• Establish engineering standards and data security principles for the future data team.
• Monitor pipeline health and ensure data trustworthiness as the primary source of truth.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a senior data or analytics engineer with a track record of owning architecture.
• Strong hands-on skills in SQL, data modeling, and Python.
• Experience with modern data stacks, specifically Databricks or equivalent lakehouse/warehouse platforms.
• Demonstrated fluency in AI automation tooling and LLMs for system integration and data querying.
• Proven ability to align non-technical stakeholders on shared business definitions and metrics.
• Must be able to work onsite in Wallingford, UK, at least 2 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with dbt for transformation frameworks.
• Background in entity resolution or deduplication concepts.
• Experience working as the first or sole engineer in a scale-up environment.
