Senior Data Engineer

Location: Hybrid from the London office preferred; fully remote candidates must be based in the UK

What you will do

• Establish the Flexibility team’s data capability and lead its data engineering technical direction.
• Represent the team within the wider data community and upskill data-literate backend engineers.
• Build greenfield data engineering systems in AWS.
• Develop high-quality data processing and warehousing foundations for future projects.
• Maintain critical data applications and implement architectural improvements for scalability, robustness, and operational efficiency.
• Improve the data platform, integrate with the Databricks warehouse, and increase trust in system stability.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and the AWS data stack.
• Experience shaping business needs into requirements and designing scalable solutions.
• Ability to understand new domains quickly and visualize data effectively.
• Willingness to own work across multiple projects and tools, share knowledge, and maintain documentation.
• Experience with databases and APIs, Kubernetes, Docker, Spark, monitoring tools, Airflow, or dbt is beneficial.
• Energy domain knowledge is desirable.
