What you will do
- Design, build, and operate AWS infrastructure for Mailchimp's high-throughput email sending fleet, including machine images, capacity management, autoscaling, networking, load balancing, and cost optimization.
- Develop Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management for scalable and secure server and network environments.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, release automation, RPM packaging, containerized services, and Kubernetes/ArgoCD-based delivery.
- Configure and tune Linux hosts and MTA software to manage throughput, queueing, and delivery behavior.
- Monitor production systems, maintain metrics, dashboards, and alerting, and respond to incidents across MTAs, hosts, AWS, and networks.
- Develop tooling for sending health, IP and domain reputation, deliverability, infrastructure automation, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience, with 7+ years of engineering experience focused on systems, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
- Strong Linux administration and Unix command-line skills, including production server fleet troubleshooting.
- Hands-on AWS experience covering compute, AMIs, autoscaling, networking, load balancing, and cost-aware operations.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, configuration management, CI/CD, Jenkins, artifact and package management, Docker, and Kubernetes or similar orchestration.
- Ability to write tooling and services in Python and PHP; experience with MTA software such as Postfix, PowerMTA, or Momentum.
- Working knowledge of DNS, networking, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MySQL, Redis, observability, Git, and AI or agent tooling.
Nice to have
- Experience with MTA internals, Postfix configuration, queue management, and RPM packaging.
- Deep networking knowledge, including TCP/IP and TLS/OpenSSL, and experience resolving deliverability or connectivity issues.
- Experience with receiver-side anti-abuse processes and deliverability communities.
- Python, Regex, R, statistics, Jira, or Confluence experience.
