Senior Cost Engineer (Automotive): Creating, analyzing, and validating component material costs and production tooling estimates for next-generation automotive vehicles with an accent on cross-functional collaboration and cost optimization. Focus on solving complex, non-standard cost problems, leading cross-functional initiatives, and mentoring team members to drive industrialization and resiliency efforts.
Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to Warren, Michigan (Hybrid: 3 days/week in office)

What you will do
- Generate detailed ground-up material cost estimates including piece price and production tooling.
- Lead cross-functional cost forums and working sessions to align engineering, purchasing, and finance teams.
- Partner with the purchasing team to provide competitive cost analysis for negotiations and sourcing decisions.
- Design and champion process improvements, dashboards, and analytical tools to enhance team efficiency.
- Mentor and coach less experienced engineers and analysts on cost modeling and best practices.
- Analyze large datasets across multiple programs to translate complex information into actionable insights.
Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship (No H-1B, OPT, etc.)
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in automotive cost estimating, manufacturing, or product design.
- Comprehensive knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, casting, injection molding).
- Expertise in MS Excel and ability to learn internal cost-estimating software.
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering.
Nice to have
- Graduate degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Technical Management.
- Experience in supplier component quoting or OEM/Tier 1 manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of automotive trends including electrification, autonomous driving, and additive manufacturing.
