TL;DR

Observability Tech Lead (AI): Leading the observability strategy and reliability culture for a cloud-native industrial platform with an accent on distributed systems instrumentation and AI-driven monitoring. Focus on designing core infrastructure, mentoring engineering teams on SLIs/SLOs, and performing complex incident response across a Kubernetes-based stack.

Location: Must be based in Somerville, MA. This is a hybrid role requiring 3+ days per week in the office.

Salary: $160,000 - $200,000 per year.

What you will do

• Mentor engineering teams on observability best practices, SLIs/SLOs, and reliability culture.
• Design, build, and maintain core infrastructure and tooling for all engineering teams.
• Perform incident response and debug production issues across the entire stack.
• Maintain triage and remediation processes as a player/coach.
• Integrate and iterate on AI-based processes for observability and monitoring.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with open-source observability tools like Loki, Grafana, Tempo, and Mimir.
• Hands-on experience instrumenting distributed systems with OpenTelemetry and managing Prometheus metrics at scale.
• Experience developing and iterating on AI processes (e.g., Claude Skills, Gemini Gems).
• Proficiency with time-series data and promQL.
• Must be able to work in the office in Somerville, MA at least 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript and Go services in a Kubernetes environment.
• Experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
