What you will do
- Complete initial project reviews and support or lead proposal efforts for client and project manager requests.
- Perform and/or lead pedestrian walkover surveys, controlled surface surveys, and shovel testing (hand excavation), often solo.
- Direct archaeological site documentation, maintain field records, and determine appropriate survey coverage during pedestrian survey.
- Ensure quality control for digital recordation of survey data using Trimble R1 and iPad with ArcGIS & AGO.
- Author archaeological reports, agency letters, and Section 106 (National Historic Preservation Act) request forms and related documents.
- Coordinate fieldwork needs with Project Managers and clients, including safety adherence and field crew oversight.
Requirements
- Secretary of the Interior-qualified for Archaeology with a graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related science.
- Working knowledge of federal and state cultural resource regulations, particularly North Dakota and surrounding states.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations related to cultural and historic preservation.
- Competency in writing detailed archaeological reports and business correspondence.
- Skilled in digital data collection using ArcGIS & AGO.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate issues to all levels of management.
