Working Student (m/f/d) Grid Compliance (Energy Storage)

Location: Germany — Erlangen; hybrid work is available with flexible hours compatible with university studies.

What you will do

• Support grid-compliance engineering for battery energy storage systems and renewable energy projects across the EMEA region.
• Assist with grid studies and EMT/RMS modelling using PSCAD, PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and related tools.
• Contribute to feasibility, locational, and preliminary technical assessments for grid-connection strategies.
• Review third-party grid-modelling studies, including technical checks and clarification of assumptions.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, customers, consultants, and grid operators and prepare technical inputs.
• Help improve internal tools, processes, documentation, and AI-supported engineering workflows.

Requirements

• Completed bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Currently enrolled in a Master of Science program in Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
• Academic foundation in power systems, electrical networks, and grid-connected equipment.
• Experience with power-system modelling or simulation tools such as PSCAD, PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken; strong analytical and communication skills.
• Interest in grid compliance, grid codes, renewable energy, battery storage, and AI-based engineering tools.

Nice to have

• Programming or scripting experience in Python or C/C++.
• Additional European languages.
