Head of Investments Legal, Asia Pacific (Private Markets)

Location: Hong Kong, Hong Kong. Hybrid workplace model: at least four days per week in the designated hirify.global office and one day outside an hirify.global office.

What you will do

• Lead, coach and develop lawyers supporting investment, trading and operations teams across the investment lifecycle.
• Advise the private markets funds business on structuring, formation, launch, governance, operations, distribution and investor relations.
• Oversee drafting, review and negotiation of private placement memoranda, limited partnership agreements, subscription agreements, side letters and related documentation.
• Advise on legal and regulatory matters involving investment research, portfolio management, trading, market access, collateral management, corporate actions and transaction reporting.
• Manage external legal counsel, tax advisers and regulatory consultants.
• Support regional and global legal initiatives and collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Human Resources, Finance and business teams.

Requirements

• Significant legal experience, ideally 15+ years, gained at a top-tier law firm, financial services institution or asset management firm.
• Deep experience with private fund structures, including closed-end and open-ended funds focused on real estate, private equity and other illiquid asset classes.
• Strong knowledge of trading documentation, investment instruments, regulatory frameworks, underwriting concepts and market terminology.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop legal professionals across multiple workstreams.
• Commercial judgment, pragmatic problem-solving, strong negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to advise senior stakeholders.
• Experience working directly with investment, trading and front-office teams and managing outside counsel.
