TL;DR

Forward Deployed Engineer (AI): Partnering with customers to architect, build, and deploy high-scale post-training solutions on the Baseten platform with an accent on fine-tuning pipelines and production deployment. Focus on translating ambiguous business goals into performant RL/SFT pipelines and optimizing model inference.

Location: Hybrid (San Francisco or New York)

Salary: $165K – $330K

What you will do

• Architect and deploy high-scale post-training solutions and fine-tuning pipelines for customers.
• Develop and maintain production-level software systems and features using Python.
• Lead the full customer journey from problem framing and evaluations to quantization and production deployment.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to create PRDs and continuously improve the technical stack.
• Manage end-to-end customer projects, functioning as a blend of engineer, project manager, and product manager.

Requirements

• Experience working with RL (Reinforcement Learning) and SFT (Supervised Fine-Tuning) for Large Language Models.
• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of professional work experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical topics.
