Maintenance Engineer

What you will do

• Perform emergency breakdown repairs, routine maintenance, and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimize downtime.
• Support installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment and systems.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
• Maintain and optimize plant performance through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work with PLCs, control systems, and automated production machinery; ensure safe and efficient operation in compliance with standards.
• Maintain maintenance records, reports, and shift handovers; manage maintenance stores and stock levels.

Requirements

• Recognized engineering qualification: City & Guilds Level 2/3 in Electrical Engineering, or NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Engineering, or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
• Proven knowledge of industrial electrical systems (single-phase/three-phase, inverters/rectifiers, motors/contactors/relays/sensors, control panels and wiring, basic PLC fault finding).
• Solid understanding of mechanical systems (hydraulics/pneumatics, belts/bearings/chains/sprockets, pumps/valves/conveyors).
• Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively; good communication for reporting, escalation, and knowledge transfer.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and on-call support when required.
