What you will do
- Partner with business development to develop concept solutions and architectures for new marine projects.
- Drive the development of internal sizing and estimation tools for electrical loads, thermal limits, and pricing.
- Size and specify complex marine electrical equipment, including 1000V DC busses, multi-MWh energy storage systems, and electric propulsion motors.
- Generate high-level CAD layouts to validate space claims for major equipment.
- Own cost estimation, material take-offs (BOMs), and final pricing roll-up for project margins.
- Collaborate with core engineering and technical writing to translate architectures into compliant bid packages and present them to clients.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in the marine industry as an application, proposal, or design engineer.
- Strong understanding of marine electrical architectures (diesel-electric, fully electric, high-voltage DC).
- Functional knowledge of energy storage systems (ESS), switchgear, and power electronics.
- Ability to create electrical single-line diagrams and system block diagrams.
- Basic proficiency with CAD software such as NX or SolidWorks.
- Must be a US Person.
Nice to have
- Experience working on commercial (tugs, ferries) or defense vessels.
- Deep experience with high-voltage battery systems and safety requirements.
- Familiarity with marine classification society rules (ABS, DNV, USCG, IEEE 45).
- Experience creating computational tools using Excel, Matlab, or Python.
- Familiarity with fluid/thermal cooling systems for power electronics.
