What you will do

• Design and implement real-time middleware and runtime components for data exchange between distributed control applications.
• Integrate industrial automation platforms and hardware protocols such as IEC 61131-3, EtherCAT, PROFINET, Modbus, and OPC-UA.
• Develop reliable edge-to-cloud communication paths for telemetry, metrics, and command handling into AWS.
• Engineer for real-time correctness, managing latency budgets and predictable behavior in distributed systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of hardware, controls, and security specialists for hardware validation.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical roadmap of the runtime and middleware layer.

Requirements

• Professional, non-internship software development experience.
• Proficiency in modern languages such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
• Experience with the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including coding standards and code reviews.
• Experience designing or architecting complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
• Location: Must be based in London, UK

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience in embedded development using C/C++.
• Knowledge of industrial automation platforms, OPC-UA, DDS/Zenoh, or similar real-time middleware.
• Experience with Rust or Python.
• General troubleshooting and debugging of hardware.
