2027 Summer Internship - Software & AI Systems (AI)

Location: Global Technology and Innovation Centre in Melbourn, Cambridge, United Kingdom; 8-week full-time internship starting in June 2027.

Salary: £26,230 per annum.

What you will do

• Design and build software for real products, devices, and connected systems.
• Develop software across embedded, bare-metal, RTOS-based, embedded Linux, machine-control, industrial-automation, and desktop environments.
• Develop edge-processing software and cloud-integrated IoT solutions.
• Build image-processing, mixed-reality, virtual-reality, and augmented-reality systems.
• Design, develop, and deliver an open-ended project selected with PA consultants.
• Collaborate with software engineers, digital engineers, data scientists, and other multidisciplinary specialists.

Requirements

• Penultimate-year undergraduate student studying toward a STEM-related degree, with eligibility to return to university after the internship.
• Proficient programming skills in C++, Python, Rust, C, or C#, or significant experience with comparable languages.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, creative-thinking, communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills.
• Professional, reliable, and comfortable working in a high-performance office environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with agile development, version control, test-driven development, continuous integration, or virtualisation.
• Experience in AI engineering or agent design.
• Commercial experience in software design, development, or testing.
• Knowledge of embedded software, sensors, IoT, cloud, robotics, or VR/AR.
