What you will do

• Act as the primary SME for hedge accounting under ASC 815 and IFRS 9, providing authoritative guidance on various hedge types and disclosures.
• Review and approve hedge documentation, designation memos, and effectiveness testing methodologies across the client portfolio.
• Manage, mentor, and develop the derivative accounting team, owning resource planning and capacity building.
• Implement process improvements throughout the hedge accounting lifecycle to increase scalability and reduce manual effort.
• Lead Director-level audit support and serve as the senior escalation point for complex accounting positions.
• Collaborate with product and technology teams to inform platform capabilities and service design.

Requirements

• CPA certification is required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 7 years focused on derivatives and hedge accounting (ASC 815, IFRS 9).
• Proven track record of managing and developing accounting teams.
• Deep technical fluency in derivative instruments across asset classes, including swaps, forwards, and options.
• Experience designing and implementing operational process improvements.
• Must be based in the US (specifically Illinois for the stated salary range).

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience with hedge accounting platforms such as hirify.global Treasury, Chatham Financial, Reval, or FIS Quantum.
