What you will do

• Design and build backend services that power the Operator intelligence layer.
• Develop scalable retrieval systems to connect engineering knowledge across the platform.
• Build APIs and services enabling AI-powered experiences, intelligent reporting, and dashboards.
• Optimize search quality, data pipelines, and knowledge retrieval performance.
• Organize company knowledge across business units, engineering domains, and manufacturing processes.
• Mentor teammates through architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical leadership.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building production backend software.
• Strong proficiency with Python and modern backend development.
• Experience building APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.
• Deep understanding of databases, system architecture, and scalable backend design.
• Experience working with both structured and unstructured data.
• Must be based in Canada.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLM workflows, RAG architectures, or AI-powered applications.
• Knowledge of vector databases (e.g., TurboPuffer), semantic search, or information retrieval.
• Experience with embeddings and ranking systems.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and enterprise SaaS platforms.
