Experienced Java Engineer (Java/Spring)

Location: Fully remote for candidates based in Portugal or Brazil only

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services with Java and Spring Boot, with exposure to Vue.js frontend development.
• Build and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end automated test suites.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to service and feature design discussions.
• Debug complex distributed-system issues and provide predominantly third-line support when required.
• Apply secure coding, CI/CD, source-control, and release-management practices.
• Coach junior engineers and collaborate with engineering leadership to improve ways of working.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial experience with Java and Spring.
• Experience working with Vue.js or a similar modern frontend framework.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and automated unit and integration testing.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git.
• Strong focus on code quality, security, performance, and problem-solving.
• Strong English communication skills, written and verbal.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale, high-performance systems and microservices architectures.
• Knowledge of cloud-native development and experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, or Kustomize.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures.
• Leadership or mentoring experience.
